Hooverphonic

Hooverphonic announce special one-off London show this Spring.

For the first time in nearly 20 years, Belgian alternative electro-pop giants Hooverphonic return to London for a special one-off show at the Islington Assembly Hall on Wednesday 18 April.

Last London appearance came as support for Moloko at ULU in 1998.

The band, who initially became known for their moody, playful take on trip-hop during the mid-‘90s, have evolved through their 23-year long career incorporating psychedelic, pop, and orchestral elements which has seen all of their albums (including compilations and live recordings) reach at least top ten in the album charts in their native Belgium, five of which reaching number 1.

Founding members Alex Callier and Raymond Geerts have, over the years, worked with a number of vocalists. Liesje Sadonius joined the band and sang on debut album A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular but was replaced after leaving the band by Geike Arnaert in time for their second-record; 1998’s Blue Wonder Power Milk. Arnaert would go on to be part of the trio on four more albums, leaving soon after 2007’s The President of the LSD Golf Club. Noémie Wolfs followed, appearing on the next three albums before leaving in 2015. Callier and Geerts now work with a selection of guest vocalists and are currently working on their eleventh studio-album.
